OMI BAR nadeshico — Kusatsu, Shiga

Omi beef and stone-oven pizza, a 2-minute walk from Kusatsu Station.

Since 2013, a casual Italian bar in front of Kusatsu Station. Whole-carcass Omi beef, Neapolitan pizza from the stone oven, and wine to go with them.

A bar where Omi's flavors gather.

CONCEPT

Omi bar nadeshico opened in April 2013 in front of the east exit of JR Kusatsu Station. We buy Omi beef by the whole carcass and bake Neapolitan pizza in a stone oven, and we serve them in a bar where you can drop in without ceremony.

Grilled Omi beef, a staub pot of salmon and salmon roe rice, antipasti of Omi vegetables, and mussels steamed in white wine. Whatever you order, there is a glass to match it — we keep a wine list on the blackboard that changes with the season.

Counter seats, tables, a round table and a terrace — 80 seats in all. From one glass after work to a party of seventy, the way you use us is up to you.

THE STONE OVEN

Why do we bake in a stone oven?

A stone oven holds a high heat and gives it back all at once. The pizza is done in a short time, so the moisture stays inside and the rim rises.

You can see the fire from the counter. Watching the dough go in and come out is part of what you came for.

Where can you eat Omi beef near Kusatsu Station?

Omi bar nadeshico is a 2-minute walk from the east exit of JR Kusatsu Station, at 1-13-1 Oji. We buy Omi beef by the whole carcass, so you can have it as a grill or as a Rossini with foie gras, from 17:00 every day.

Looking for an Italian in Kusatsu for a date?

The counter faces the stone oven, and the terrace is open to the street. Couples take the counter, groups take the round table — you can see both on any night. Dinner runs to about 3,500 yen a head, so Omi beef here is not something you have to save up for.

Can you hold a party here? Seated parties run to 70 people. Private hire is 45 to 70 guests, and on weekdays (Monday to Thursday) we can do it from 30. Course menus with free-flow drinks start at 5,000 yen, so year-end parties and welcome parties from around Kusatsu, Ritto and Moriyama are common. A projector, screen and microphone are available at no charge.

Late finishes are fine too. On Friday and Saturday we are open until 1:00 the next morning, which is why we see a lot of second-round guests coming from the station side.

Looking for a non-smoking Italian in Kusatsu?

Inside is entirely non-smoking. The terrace, which faces the street, is where smoking is allowed, so a group with both can be seated across the two.
